Federal elections: young people vote for these parties

If it were up to children and young people, the new bundestag would be much greener than election researchers predict. According to an interim result of the nationwide U18 election on friday evening, the greens come to 16.3 percent of the vote. That’s twice as many percentage points as in recent surveys.
According to the latest results, the CDU won 28.2 percent of the young voters’ vote, while the SPD won 19.9 percent. The afd has a 6.7 percent share of the vote, significantly worse among young people than in the forecasts for the real election, which last put the party at 10 percent. The FDP barely got into the bundestag with 5.7 percent, the left gets 8.2 percent from the young voters.
The U18 election is an initiative of the federal youth ring and is intended to encourage young people to take an interest in politics. This year, significantly more children and young people are expected to take part than before the 2013 federal election, when there were around 200,000, said michael scholl of the federal youth ring.
The election is organized by young people for young people and simulates with more than 1600 polling stations in schools, youth clubs or sports clubs the federal election on the 24th of december. September. The initiative is demanded by the ministry of family affairs and the federal center for political education.
Many young voters, however, did not choose one of the established parties on friday. Almost every seventh person voted for one of the so-called other parties. With 3.8 percent, the animal protection party was the strongest performer in this area.
